I turned the radio on and it worked, set the power to 5%. I am happy today though, my Astron PS came in and I found my ground tester and the plug I am using is good. Voice will be the primary focus for now though. I will probably play with it but what would you do? As a note I do not plan on CW operations in the near future but do plan I attempting data. Then again the lower frequencies would penetrate to the inside of my house better. I predict I will have better luck with higher frequencies due to my unconventional temporary setup. My adjustable antenna has the following ban options: I can select one of the following 10m / 12m / 15m / 17m / 20m / 30m / 40m and I will have the 2m band with any selection. Off topic but related to setting up my shack. I might have to resort to a desktop under the desk to save space in my working area. I was just going to use the Rasberry Pi because it wouldn't take up much space. I might need one anyway because I forgot to add I have a couple of baofengs sitting on my desk as well and a programing cable. I was looking at using a Rasberry Pi for a computer but it appears if I want to use Ham to send a digital "email"/message I might need a windows 10 machine to run the software. Thanks for all the replies, I will look into some of that.

I will probably end up with a computer just so I can surf the net and to run software. Before I go out and buy 87 things I won't use and forget to buy 87 things that would have made my life easy, figured I would ask here what do you find helpful to have. I currently do not have anything but the radio and a lamp setting at my desk. What your normal routine when you operate your station? I would assume people today more or less write station information on their computer than a hard copy on paper. Of the things on your desk that you do use, how do you use it and for what purpose. I have seen a few youtube videos with like 3-4 radios and a few computers down to just a mobile setup. The QSL card thread got me thinking, what things do you have on your desk (or access) that makes life easier. Started running some cables and other things along with doing more reading. Well I finally got my radio out of the box.
